The recently concluded Shaman King anime is getting a sequel, a new announcement video has revealed. The sequel’s story will revolve around Hana, the son of Yoh Asakura (Youko Hikasa) and Anna Kyoyama (Megumi Hayashibara).
Two “thank you” visuals were also released, with one featuring the “now” versions of the characters and the other featuring them seven years later.
Shaman King premiered in Japan in April 2021. It is the second anime adaptation of Hiroyuki Takei‘s manga, following an earlier adaptation from 2001. Netflix describes the show as:
Medium Yoh Asakura enters a battle tournament held every 500 years, competing with other shamans in a bid to become the all-powerful Shaman King.
The main staff includes Jouji Furuta (The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments, Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love Kingdom) as director, Jouji Yonemura (Wave, Listen to Me!) as series composer, and Sano Satohiko (Talentless Nana) as character designer. Studio Bridge produced the show.
The Shaman King manga ran from 1998 to 2004 with 32 tankoubon volumes. The manga was originally published by Shueisha before being republished by Kodansha in 2018. A sequel titled Shaman King: Flowers, which starred Hana, ran from 2012 to 2014.
