The upcoming second cour of Orient has released its second main visual, which features the characters Naotoru Takeda (Satoshi Hino), Aoshi Sanada (Haruki Ishiya), and Shunrai Yamamoto (Saori Oonishi). The new cour, which will tackle The Battle of Awaji Island arc, is set to begin in July.

The first cour of Orient aired during the Winter 2022 anime season. The anime is based on the Kodansha-published manga by Magi creator Shinobu Ohtaka

Crunchyroll describes the anime as:

When unidentified creatures known as Kishin suddenly appeared in Japan, all of the most famous military leaders were killed in battle, and the end of the world seemed close at hand.

Now, 150 years later, demons still rule the world, and only the Band of Bushi continues to fight for freedom. Musashi and Kojiro, out of admiration for these brave fighters, strive to form the strongest Band of Bushi in this classic battle action story of friends passionately chasing a dream.

The returning staff from the first cour includes Tetsuya Yanagisawa as director, Mariko Kunisawa as series composer, Takahiro Kishida as character designer, Fumio Matsumoto and Sayuri Sakimoto as chief animation directors, Suga Shigeyuki as action supervisor, Hirofumi Sakagami as art director, Hidenori Manaka as photography director, and Hideyuki Fukasawa as music composer. 

New credits include Mika Funabashi (Blue Reflection Ray) as color designer and Matsumoto as co-character designer. A.C.G.T. is the animation production company. 

Meanwhile, the cast includes Yuuma Uchida as Musashi, Souma Saitou as Kojirou Kanemaki, Rie Takahashi as Tsugumi Hattori, and Satoshi Hino as Naotora Takeda. Joining in the second cour are Tomaki Maeno as Tatsuomi Uesugi, Natsuki Hanae as Kanetatsu Naoe, Yoshiki Nakajima as Masayuki Amakasu, Kouki Uchiyama as Akihiro Shimazu, Gakuto Kajiwara as Katsumi Amako, and Youko Hikasa as Kuroko Usami.

The Orient manga began serialization in 2018 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine, before moving to Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in 2021. 15 tankoubon volumes of the series have been published as of March 2022.
