The upcoming Urusei Yatsura anime revealed a new second teaser PV trailer and cast members for additional characters. The previously announced anime will run for four cours and premiere sometime this 2022.
The 15-second trailer features the voices of Maaya Uchida and Mamoru Miyano playing their new respective characters. Uchida voices Ataru’s childhood friend Shinobu Miyake while Miyano voices Shuutarou Mendou. The production staff also released photos of the new characters with their respective voice actors.

The new Urusei Yatsura anime will adapt selected chapters of Rumiko Takahashi’s original manga series. An announcement teaser trailer and key visual for the reboot was released last December. The production team also released preview stills of the main characters’ designs with their seiyuu. Hiroshi Kamiya will voice lead character Ataru Moroboshi while Sumire Uesaka voices Lum Invader.
Hideya Takahashi (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind) and Kimura Yasuhiro are directing the anime series. Yuuko Kakihara (The Aquatope on White Sand) is writing the screenplay and Naoyuki Asano (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!) is handling character designs. David Production is in charge of animation production.
The original Urusei Yatsura manga series ran from 1978 to 1987 in Weekly Shounen Sunday. It inspired a previous 1981 anime series, as well as multiple films and OVAs. The anime series concluded in 1986, with Mamoru Oshii serving as chief director during the first 129 episodes and Kazuo Yamazaki (Yume Tsukai) taking over the role for the rest of the series.
