The second season of Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club will air on April 2, 2022. A longer PV trailer has also been released ahead of the scheduled premiere.
The trailer showcases upcoming scenes from the newest installment of the Love Live! Franchise, as well as returning characters from the first season. News of a second season for Nijigasaki High School Idol Club was first confirmed on May 2021.
An initial first trailer was posted in late February of this year, previewing new characters Shioriko Mifune (voiced by Moeka Koizumi), Mia Taylor (voiced by Shuu Uchida), and Lanzhu Zhong (voiced by Akina Houmoto). The join the returning main voice cast members consisting of Hinaki Yano as Yu Takasaki, Aguri Onishi as Ayumu Uehara, Mayu Sagara as Kasumi Nakasu, Kaori Maeda as Shizuku Osaka, Miyu Kubota as Karin Asaka, Natsumi Murakami as Ai Miyashita, Akari Kitou as Kanata Konoe, Tomori Kusunoki as Setsuna Yuki, Maria Sashide as Emma Verde, and Chiemi Tanaka as Rina Tennnouji.
Many staff members from season one are returning to production, including Tomoyuki Kawamura as director, Jin Tanaka as series screenwriter, Takumi Yokota as character designer, Misako Akama as color designer, and Daiki Sugiyama as photography director. Mebachi is in charge of general design works, with Yuuya Horiuchi (Love Live! Nijigasaki episode director) as the assistant director, Yasutoshi Kawai (The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgement) as art director, and Gou Kurosaki (Love Live! Nijigasaki CG supervisor, Love Live! Sunshine!!) as CG director. SUNRISE is in charge of the animation production.
Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club is part of the overall Love Live! multimedia project, which has spanned multiple anime series, games, and related media. The first season aired from October to December 2020 for 13 episodes.

Nijigasaki High School is known for their diverse subjects and the freedom they give to students. Second-year student Yu Takasaki has been turned on to the charms of school idols, so she knocks on the door of the School Idol Club with her friend, Ayumu Uehara. Sometimes friends, sometimes rivals, the members of this club each contribute their own thoughts and motivations to the group.
