Romantic comedy When Will Ayumu Make His Move? will make its debut in Japan on July 7, a new announcement has revealed. A key visual and a second trailer for the anime were released as well.
The trailer previews When Will Ayumu Make His Move?‘s characters and the opening song “Kakehiki wa Poker Face” by Kana Hanazawa.
The anime is an adaptation of the manga by Teasing Master Takagi-san’s Souichirou Yamamoto, which began in 2019 and has 11 tankoubon volumes as of April 2022. Kodansha describes the manga as:
Yaotome’s the president of the shogi club at her high school, and she’s pretty sure that Ayumu, an underclassman and the only other member of the club, has a huge crush on her. They get together to play shogi every day after school, but no matter what she does, she can’t seem to get him to confess his feelings! What she doesn’t know is that Ayumu has made a pact with himself to reveal his love only after he’s beaten Yaotome at shogi for the first time. Yet there’s one big issue with this plan…he really sucks!
The anime’s staff includes Mirai Minato (The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!) as director, Deko Akao (The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt)as series composer, and Kazuya Hirata (BOFURI, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 3rei!!) as character designer. SILVER LINK is the animation production company. Meanwhile, the cast includes Youhei Azakami as Ayumu Tanaka, Tsubasa Gouden as Takeru Kakuryuu, and Hina Youmiya as Sakurako Mikage.
The manga is serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine and published under the Kodansha Comics label.
