Tomodachi Game has released two new character trailers featuring Shiho Sawaragi and the mysterious Manabu-kun respectively. The show is set to premiere on April 5, with Crunchyroll streaming the show outside of Japan and other Asia territories.
Tomodachi Game is based on the Kodansha-published manga written by Mikoto Yamaguchi and drawn by Yuuki Satou, which began in 2013 and has 19 tankoubon volumes as of November 2021. The story involves a group of friends being forced to participate in a mysterious debt-clearing game. The trick to clearing the game is to not doubt each other, but what should have been an easy game as long as there’s friendship soon turns into a psychological battle.
The staff includes Hirofumi Ogura (Cells at Work!) as the director. Kenta Ihara (Mieruko-chan) as series composer and scriptwriter, Satomi Miyazaki (The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter chief animation director) as character designer, Studio Tulip’s Si Man Wei (Edens Zero) as art director, Aiko Mizuno (Cells at Work!) as color designer, Raretrick’s Yomogiko Murano (I-Chu) as photography director, and MICHIRU (Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood) as music composer. Okuruto Noboru is the animation production company.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi as Yuichi Katagiri, Daiki Hamano as Tenji Misaka, Yume Miyamoto as Shiho Sawaragi, Tomohiro Oono as Makoto Shibe, Satomi Amano as Yutori Kokorogi, Minami Takayama as Manabu-kun, Reina Ueda as Maria Mizuse, and Shizuka Itou as Tsukino.
The Tomodachi Game manga is serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shounen Magazine and published under the Kodansha Comics Magazine label. The manga series also inspired a four-episode television drama and two live-action films that released in 2017.
