Shortly after the 12th and final episode of Sasaki and Miyano, the anime’s production team announced that a sequel is in the works. More details about the follow-up will be made at a later date on the anime’s official website and social media accounts.
The main voice cast features Yuusuke Shirai as Shoumei Sasaki, Souma Saitou as Yoshikazu Miyano, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Taiga Hirano, Yuuki Ono as Jirou Okasawara, Yuuma Uchida as Masato Hanzawa, Ryouhei Arai as Tasuke Kuresawa, and Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Gonzaburou Tashiro.

The anime’s staff consists of Shinji Ishihira (Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table) as director, Takahiro Ueno (Fairy Gone episode director) as assistant director, Yoshiko Nakamura (Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle) as series scriptwriter, Maki Fuujī (Our Love Has Always Been 10 Centimeters Apart) as character designer, Masaki Mayuzumi (Dr. Ramune -Mysterious Disease Specialist-) as art director, Katsuragi Imazato (The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed By Light) as color designer, Shinyo Kondou (The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed By Light) as photography director, and Kana Shibue (Devils’ Line) as music composer. Studio Deen is handling the animation production.
Sasaki and Miyano is based on Shou Harusono’s manga series of the same name. It was first published in 2016 and published eight tankoubon volumes in total so far. The manga also inspired a spin-off manga focused on Taiga and Akira Kagiura, two light novels, and a drama CD. It is currently published under KADOKAWA’s Gene Pixiv label.
Yen Press describes the story as:
It all started like a typical old-school boys’ love plotline—bad-boy senior meets adorably awkward underclassman, one of them falls in love, and so on and so forth. But although Miyano is a self-proclaimed boys’ love expert, he hasn’t quite realized…he’s in one himself. Which means it’s up to Sasaki to make sure their story has a happily ever after…!
