A Sword Art Online 10th Anniversary Project trailer has been released, with the trailer containing several announcements of upcoming Sword Art Online releases, events, and more.
Revealed in the 10th Anniversary Project PV were:
- – SAO SELECTION, a series of fan-voted episodes that will air in July.
- – The Art of SWORD ART ONLINE, an exhibition that will be held at The Ueno Royal Museum from July 2 to 24.
- – A new game titled Sword Art Online: Valiant Showdown.
- – The date of Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night‘s Blu-ray and DVD release (July 8)
- – A short video previewing footage from the upcoming Sword Art Online -Progressive- Kuraki Yuuyami no Scherzo (Scherzo of Deep Night) movie, which is set to premiere in Japan in Autumn.
- – Sword Art Online: Full Dive, a memorial event to commemorate Sword Art Online’s 10th anniversary. It will be held at Tokyo Garden Theatre on November 6 and will see appearances from Yoshitsugu Matsuoka,Haruka Tomatsu,Ayana Taketatsu, Miyuki Sawashiro, Rina Hidaka, Kanae Itou,Aoi Yuuki, Ai Kayano, Nobunaga Shimazaki, Hiroaki Hirata, Hiroki Yasumoto, and Inori Minase.
The first season of Sword Art Online aired in 2012. There have since been four seasons, a compilation movie, the Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale movie, the Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online spin-off series, and 2021’s Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night movie.
The Kadokawa-published Sword Art Online light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by abec began in 2009 and has 26 volumes as of October 2021. Sword Art Online Progressive, which expands on the Aincrad arc of the main series, began in 2012. Spin-off light novels from other authors include the aforementioned Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online and Sword Art Online Alternative: Clover’s Regret. The franchise also includes various manga and video games.
